I'm an avid swimmer, and I love to hike, garden, meditate, surf the net, and read lots of books, including books of poetry, art, psychology, fiction, and Buddhist writings. I am fascinated by learning about myself and other people. I am a deep thinker and a playful person - I love to laugh.
My political perspective
I am feminist, humanist, and committed
to an anti-oppression perspective. I believe everyone
deserves to be treated with respect and dignity.
As a queer woman
I know what
it means to be queer and a woman which can be important to clients who identify as lesbian,
gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, and/or women. I do my best to extend my understanding to people who experience other forms of
oppression as well.
My life experiences
My own life experiences inform who I am as a person
and as a therapist. I draw on those experiences to help me
understand what you might be going through. For example, I am a trauma survivor. While I do not assume that all survivors' experiences are the same - because they are not - being a survivor who has done a lot of healing work and therapy, does help me to understand and be sensitive to a variety of problems, including other kinds of trauma, abuse, grief, and loss. Whatever you are going through, I will do my best to understand you and your unique situation.
