I'm a down to earth person and therapist. I enjoy swimming, playing tennis, walking, working around my house, going to plays, and reading. I am fascinated by learning about myself and other people and I feel great compassion for everyone. I am a deep thinker, a playful person, and I love to laugh!
I am feminist, humanist, and committed
to an anti-oppression perspective. I believe everyone
deserves to be treated with respect and dignity and yet not everyone is treated that way. I understand how societal prejudices can be a barrier and how we can challenge those barriers.
My own life experiences inform who I am as a person
and a therapist. As someone who has experienced trauma and has done a lot of my own therapy, I understand, and know how to help people to heal from loss, grief, abuse, trauma, neglect and other kinds of painful experiences. I've learned a lot from my own experiences, the psychological literature, as well as the many people I have helped over the last 25 years. I also know that everyone is different and our experiences are unique.
If you're wondering if I work exclusively with trauma survivors and lesbians and gay men, the answer is: I work with everyone. Women, men, youth, lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, straight people, trans women and men, and people from all cultures, religions, and races, cultures, and ethnicities. If you're wondering whether I would be able to help you, just ask me. :)
